This is a program that prepares individuals to perform the duties of police and public security officers, including patrol and investigative activities, traffic control, crowd control and public relations, witness interviewing, evidence collection and management, basic crime prevention methods, weapon and equipment operation and maintenance, report preparation and other routine law enforcement responsibilities. *Students who choose to pursue the dual enrollment option will earn 3 college credits from Montgomery County Community College.

The program is based at Central Montco Technical High School with many of the learning experiences performed at offcampus locations such as the Montgomery County Fire Academy, local police departments and local businesses. Mastering of the competencies will be accomplished in supervised simulated situations.

Students in the Public Safety Program may earn the following certifications:

• CPR and AED
• Protective Safety Systems - Defensive Tactics
• Fire Extinguisher Certificate
• FEMA: Introduction to Incident Command System
• Ladder Safety Training Certification
