ADVANCED PLACEMENT MICROECONOMICS (Grades 10-12)

Microeconomics focuses on principles of economics that apply to the functions of individual decision makers(consumers and businesses) within the economic system. Throughout Microeconomics, students will build on their knowledge of Macroeconomics to further develop their familiarity with the operation of product and factor markets, distribution of income and market failure as well as the role of government in promoting greater efficiency and equity in the economy. Students will learn to use graphs, read charts and analyze data to identify and describe advanced economic concepts. Students enrolling in this course should be proficient in algebra and be comfortable with the content covered in AP Macroeconomics. As an Advanced Placement (AP) course, AP Microeconomics corresponds with one semester of an introductory college course. Prerequisite: Students are required to have a teacher recommendation and have taken AP Macroeconomics to enroll in this course.Please review the Advanced Placement Section in the tab above entitled "Course Levels and Prerequisites" before selecting this course. Summer assignments may be required.
