Food for Thought Weekend Edition: Update

Food for Thought Weekend Edition: Update

Thanks to everyone who has donated so far, the Colonial School District Education Foundation has raised $5,000 toward weekend meals for hungry students—and food store gift cards have already started to go to families in need.

With more than one out of every four students qualifying for free or reduced lunch, food insecurity can be a real problem for many children in the Colonial School District.

You can help. Click here to donate.

Through last year’s Food For Thought campaign, the Colonial School District Education Foundation (CSDEF) brought in enough money to cover lunches for struggling families just out of reach of the free meals program. Thanks to you, as well as corporate donors John Kennedy Subaru and Firstrust Bank, we have enough left over to cover 2023-2024 as well.

This year, the Colonial School District Education Foundation is building on last year’s Annual Campaign with the Food For Thought: Weekend Edition.

Through Food For Thought: Weekend Edition, the Foundation will be working with Colonial’s Food & Nutrition Services and Pupil Services departments to provide grocery store gift cards—plus recipes, shopping lists, and meal ideas—for families-in-need to help make sure Colonial’s children have nutritious meals through the weekends.

Your donation could be worth double! Your employer may do a corporate match of your charitable donations; check with your human resources department to find out!

Thank you for helping to bring healthy weekend meals to children-in-need.
