School Board approves 2026-27 calendar

The Colonial School District Board of Directors approved the 2026-27 calendar at the Nov. 20 meeting. You can access the one-age calendar here.

The Board approved a pre-Labor Day start to the 2026-27 school year back in September. This most recent calendar action finalizes the rest of the school year with regard to holidays and days off for students. Here are some dates to note:

• Aug. 31: First day of school
• Sept. 7: Holiday (Labor Day)
• Sept. 21: Holiday (Yom Kippur) 
• Nov. 3: Election Day/In-Service Day
• Nov. 25-27: Thanksgiving (Nov. 25 is a day off for students with Professional Learning Time for teachers in the morning)
• Dec. 23-Jan. 1: Winter break (Dec. 23 is an early dismissal day)
• Jan. 18: Holiday (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
• Feb. 12-15: Presidents Day weekend
• March 10: Holiday for students/teachers (Eid Al-Fitr)
• March 22-26: Spring break 
• May 28-31: Memorial Day weekend (May 28 is a day off for students but Professional Learning Time for teachers in the morning)
• June 11: Last day of school (Tentative; dependent on number of inclement weather days used)

Please note the majority of Professional Learning Time (PLT) days and the exact date for induction will be identified later. PLT days are days in which students are dismissed early so that faculty can participate in professional development.
