PWHS World Languages Department honored with 2025-2026 PSMLA Golden Globe Award
The World Languages Department at Plymouth Whitemarsh High School (PWHS) has been recognized for having one of the best programs in the state.
PWHS recently received the 2025-2026 Golden Globe Award from the Pennsylvania State Modern Language Association (PSMLA). The award celebrates student participation in the World Languages program, creative instructional practices, professional development for staff, and the events and activities of the language clubs.
At PWHS this year, more than 80% of ninth graders are continuing their World Language studies and more than 225 students are taking courses that are level 4 and higher. The school's popular World Language clubs engage in trips and service projects that further the students’ understanding of the different cultures.
For Spanish teacher Olga Molinares, who is in her first year at PWHS, the award confirms what she has discovered about the department. “My colleagues are amazing," she said. "They're dedicated to the department, the students, and the school community, and they're passionate about what we're teaching."
PSMLA is a non-profit professional organization dedicated to the teaching and learning of languages and cultures from kindergarten through university levels. The organization was founded in 1919 and continues to be a leading resource and advocate for world language educators throughout the state.
