Conshohocken Elementary students parade their vocabulary knowledge

Conshohocken Elementary School students personified words like “slumber,” “invisible,” “explode,” and “fragile” as part of their participation in the school’s first-ever Vocabulary Parade on June 8.

Students selected words found in the book, “Willodeen,” which was Conshohocken’s One Book One School selection for this year. They were then asked to make a “vocabulary mat” that included a picture or illustration of the word, the word’s definition, use of the word in a sentence, as well as synonyms and antonyms. For added fun, the students were invited to dress up as their word for the parade.

Some of the unique depictions included a child wrapped in bubble wrap and packing stickers to illustrate the word “fragile,” while another child wore a fiery red wig to reflect the word “fierce.” Students enjoyed having the chance to see each other’s costumes during the parade around the playground.
