Colonial School District wrapped up National School Bus Safety Week by celebrating the district’s school bus drivers. After completing their morning routes, the special guests gathered for a breakfast at Colonial Elementary School's cafeteria, where they enjoyed time together and were recognized for their contributions.

“It’s important to celebrate our bus drivers to make sure they know they’re appreciated,” said Christopher Brown, Director of Transportation. “It’s just our little way of giving back to the drivers that give themselves to us every single day.”

For Leonard Grant, driving a bus is a natural extension of his lifelong career working with children. "Now that I have retired from my old job, I can continue to enjoy working with kids and seeing them smile every day," he shared.

Robin Altieri, another driver, expressed a similar sentiment. “I just love what I do. I love the kids,” she said. “I wasn’t able to have kids of my own, so they’re like my kids.”

The Colonial School District relies on more than 80 drivers, employed across three different contractors, to transport students safely to and from school.
