Research conducted across multiple disciplines has shown that tinkering, the playful approach of discovery, experimentation and hands-on experience is beneficial to everyone. The tinkering that occurs in the PWHS Makerspace supports Colonial School District’s efforts in supporting students as they grow as 21st century learners, providing them with the space and resources to work cooperatively, as well as posing and answering questions to guide and extend their learning.
The PWHS Makerspace is a unique space for students to gather to create, explore, experiment, imagine, build, learn and tinker. Learn to use various materials in physical and virtual environments, using technology that may not be found in typical classrooms. Engage in learning experiences to extend learning, explore individual interests or develop a creative project for a class. In addition to being open during the library media center's regular hours, special demonstration and interactive sessions are scheduled for Bonus Block and after school.
